“Mayim : Immersive Inversion” ~ by Sera’ Sophia

“For I am the Water of Life, the mute dark mirror of substance. Reflecting Myself to Myself.
From this Water all things proceed - in it all things have their being - and to it all must return.”
~ Hermetic Invocation, Author Unknown

To our Blessed Community, Friends & Beloveds,

Warm & Joyous Greetings for the blossoming of the Vernal Equinox & the Arrival of Spring ….

We stand at the turning of the New Year—not merely as a measure of time, but as a shift in global consciousness. The passage from the Thelemic Year of the Hermit ♍️ into the Year of the Hanged Man P marks a movement from seeking to seeing, from refinement to surrender, from the careful cultivation of the inner light to its complete immersion and  inversion. Where the Hermit walks the path of discernment—Virgoan, precise, attentive to the smallest truths—the Hanged Man invites us into a far deeper initiation: the relinquishment of orientation itself.

The Hermit has done his work. He has withdrawn from the noise, distilled experience into wisdom, and carried the lamp of the Mysteries through the dark corridors of the self. This is the sacred labor of inner awareness and discernment—the ordering of the psyche, the purification of intention, the devotion to truth in its most exacting form. Yet the Hermit, for all his clarity, still stands upright within the terrestrial, human frame of reference seeking illumination via the Lamp & the Staff.

Conversely, the Hanged Man, represented by the Hebrew letter M (Mayim), which literally means “Waters”, by contrast, no longer seeks. He yields. Surrendering completely to the Will of the Higher Intuitive Self.

Suspended between worlds, inverted upon the Tree of Life, the Hanged Man is not in a position of suffering but in revelation. His posture is paradox: what appears as sacrifice is in truth liberation. This is the moment when the axis of perception turns 180° degrees—when the aspirant ceases their seeking and striving and instead beholds the magnificence of the fullness of being, the Beatific Vision. It is the fully initiated consciousness of the Adept, who has relinquished the ego and enters into the communion of the Knowledge and Conversation with the Holy Guardian Angel—the Augoeides, the radiant double, their higher intuitive genius. Through this union, the awareness of the Neshamah—the higher intuitive, supernal intelligence—begins to infuse the human vessel. One does not think about truth; one begins to witness and come to full realization from within it.

And perhaps it is no coincidence that this dynamic shift is unfolding in a time when the world itself appears to be completely unraveling under the weight of potential cultural collapse.

What we are witnessing across our global culture—the instability, the fragmentation, the dissolving of once-stable systems—is not merely collapse. It is total inversion. The societal structures that once oriented us are loosening their grip, revealing both their limitations and their illusions. Like the Hermit’s careful constructions of meaning, these systems have served their purpose. However, the Hanged Man teaches us that there comes a moment when the very framework itself must be surrendered. What feels like disorientation is, in truth, a reorientation at a higher octave.

These are the deep Waters of the Hanged Man—not the flowing stream of emotion, but the vast, still depth in which all reflections are reversed. Here, certainty dissolves. Control gives way to trust. The personal will bows—not in defeat, but in alignment with a deeper current. In this numinous state, purification occurs not through effort, but through surrender. The false cannot remain when the perspective shifts so completely.

We are now being powerfully called—individually and collectively—to undergo this immersive inversion consciously. To release the need to fix, force, or finalize. To allow the higher spiritual intelligence of the Neshamah to re-pattern perception from within. To trust that what is falling away is not the loss of meaning, but the clearing of distortion. The Adept does not cling to the old orientation; they willingly and enthusiastically consent to the attunement and reframing into this new reality.

And in that willing consent, a new vision of reality emerges.

May we meet this threshold we are being called to cross with courage and grace. May we allow ourselves to be turned, that we may truly see. And may the light that we once carried before us now arise within us—quiet, radiant, and unwavering—as we step boldly into this new year, not as seekers of truth, but as radiant, reflective vessels through which that truth reveals itself. We invite you all to step into this next phase of our collective becoming - in perfect love and perfect trust. 🙏
